Hello All!

My 13 year old son is very interested in paintball and I am trying to figure out which is the best way to introduce him to the sport. He is interested in the ESPL tournaments but I have a couple questions about it. First, will he have to play the first date in order to play the other dates? And secondly, he has only played once when his football team played....would this tournament be too hard for him or just right?

Thanks!

First off you do not need to play all events to go into other events, and since he has only played a few times i would suggest that he comes out to a few open nights on wednesday or friday at the indoor as well as some of the open speedball practices that we hold at the outdoor when the weather gets better (dates will be posted on the forum). This way he will be able to get a feel to more of a faster paced game and some higher caliber players, also he will be able to meet a few people at the practices and stuff and get on a team (if he doesnt already have one). Hope this answers your questions:)

Cheers, Max

Max pretty much covered everything. Since your son has only played once with his football team and is wanting to get into tournaments, you should look into getting him into the young guns program that flagswipe runs. The young guns program pretty much teaches the basic fundamentals of paintball which is beneficial to everyone that is starting out, especially if you're looking at jumping right into tournament play.

When you and your son are ready to make that step to jump into tournaments, I would reccomend that you get him to start in young guns(d3 for espl). As for the skill level in this division, it varies from new young players that are just out to have fun playing with rentals to players that practice regularly.
